A long-time customer decided to go through with a full roof replacement on her home in Bluebell, PA. The existing roof is cedar shingles, which are heavily weathered and unhinged. The roof is a 2900 sq. ft. project. We will need to tear off the cedar shingles and replace any broken or rotted rafters. We will then plywood the roof, cover with water & ice shield and roofing felt. Finally, the customer chose CertainTeed Landmark Pro Heather Blend, which will protect her home for many years to come and add new life to the aesthetic of the house!

Two sections of this roof have persistent leaks into the home. Replacing both sections with new decking and EPDM to stop leaks and repair roof:
EPDM stands for: ethylene propylene diene monomer. This is an “M” class rubber, which has many applications. Here, it has been used on a flat roof, which we will remove sections of to fix a leak and instal new EPDM.
Original rotted decking
Old material removal. Isolating the areas that are damaged and fully removing each section of the leak under the roof, including the decking.
Replacing rotted decking underneath both sections of the roof to ensure the leak is entirely gone. (This is the first section).
Here, you can see the new black rubber roofing material is now in place!
Both sections are tightly sealed off with brand new materials. No more leaks into the home! The house was painted and unfortunately the painters used scaffolding nailed into the roofing. This section of the roof needed a roof replacement. Roof decking replaced as necessary and GAF Timberline shingles installed.
XL Home Improvements was called in to install roofing and siding on a breezeway and garage. We had to try and match, as best as possible, the siding on the main house. Also fix and finish some areas that a previous owner had attempted on his own.
Left side of garage
Front of breezeway
The rear wall of the breezeway was rotted and needed to be rebuilt. New framing and a window were installed.
The roofing was removed, bad wood replaced, and new shingles were installed.
New siding , Capping and Gutters to finish off the job. The stucco contractor will then come in to finish off the wall in the back of the breezeway.
This cedar dormer was leaking and needed to be replaced. Existing cedar was removed and the damaged wood stringers were replaced as necessary. New 7/8″ Tapersawn cedar shingles were installed with 18″ 30lb roofing felt strips between each course. An Air Ridge Shingle Vent 2 ridge vent system was installed for proper ventilation. You simply cant beat the look of a new cedar roof!
Skylight was leaking badly, Glass and curb were damaged. XL Home Improvements removed the skylight and cleaned up the area. We made a new curb and packed it out to except the new unit. The curb was flashed with Single Ply Membrane and new Bubble skylight installed. The flashing and surrounding roof was then coated with Fibered Aluminum Coating.
Our customer had a nasty leak in the bathroom below. The chimney flashing’s were done incorrectly resulting in damage to the ceiling. We removed the existing roofing from around the chimney and installed Ice & Water Shield to the entire area. Next step was to Re-shingle installing new step, gussset and reglet cut counter flashing’s installed into the stucco. We also replaced the bathroom vent collar. Problem solved!!
