Roof Replacement in Bluebell, PA

A long-time customer decided to go through with a full roof replacement on her home in Bluebell, PA.  The existing roof is cedar shingles, which are heavily weathered and unhinged.  The roof is a 2900 sq. ft. project.  We will need to tear off the cedar shingles and replace any broken or rotted rafters.  We will then plywood the roof, cover with water & ice shield and roofing felt.  Finally, the customer chose CertainTeed Landmark Pro Heather Blend, which will protect her home for many years to come and add new life to the aesthetic of the house!

Tearing off cedar shingles and inspecting each individual rafters for wear.

Measuring to fit plywood over insulation and rafters.Plywood is installed and now moving onto ice & water shield and roofing felt, which are the layers right under the shingles.Hip and ridge shingles are carefully lined up and fitted to the ridges of the roof.Measuring plywood and shingles to perfectly fit around chimneys and vent collars. Here’s a shot of the shed with the original cedar roof compared to the brand new CertainTeed shingles on the main house.  The shed was also torn off and shingled to match the main house.  The house looks brand new and this roof will stand the test of time.  Another very pleased customer!

EPDM REPAIR

Two sections of this roof have persistent leaks into the home.  Replacing both sections with new decking and EPDM to stop leaks and repair roof:

  • EPDM stands for: ethylene propylene diene monomer.  This is an “M” class rubber, which has many applications.  Here, it has been used on a flat roof, which we will remove sections of to fix a leak and instal new EPDM.
    Rotted decking

    Original rotted decking

Old material removal.  Isolating the areas that are damaged and fully removing each section of the leak under the roof, including the decking.

Replacing rotted decking underneath both sections of the roof to ensure the leak is entirely gone. (This is the first section).

Here, you can see the new black rubber roofing material is now in place!

Both sections are tightly sealed off with brand new materials.  No more leaks into the home!  If you or anyone you know has a new leak or a leak that has persisted into their home for years and they can’t find the source, give XL Home Improvements a call immediately!  We have helped hundreds of home owners stop thousands of leaks and we won’t stop until the problem is properly resolved!  Check out our testimonial page!

ROOF INSTALL IN HATFIELD PA 19440

Leaks were found all over the house coming from the old style aluminum ridge vent. These vents come loose with time and wind. Water penetrated and damaged the OSB sheathing. This house needed a new roof install.

Ice and Water Shield was installed to the eaves, sidewalls, penetrations and the entire rear gusset area that tends to hold ice and snow for long periods of time.

Certainteed Landmark shingles were installed in the color “weathered wood”
